Joseph J. Cinquemani, a Republican attorney, is challenging Democratic Rep. George S. Latimer for New York’s 16th Congressional District on Nov. 3.
The state’s amended general-election certification lists Cinquemani on the Republican line and Latimer on the Democratic line. Voters will choose one representative.
Experience
On his campaign’s biography page, Cinquemani describes a 32-year legal practice focused on real estate, business transactions and succession planning. He says he has lived in New Rochelle and Pelham Bay for 30 years.
His campaign describes work representing buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants and entrepreneurs. It cites that experience as preparation for addressing financial and business issues in Congress.
Campaign priorities
Cinquemani’s campaign platform proposes a 10% reduction in federal spending across agencies and departments. He also proposes extending the income-tax withholding exemption to income up to the federal poverty line.
For energy, he supports small modular nuclear reactors at Indian Point and expanded natural-gas drilling. His campaign argues these proposals would lower costs and create jobs; those are his stated goals.
His health-insurance proposal emphasizes information, expanded options and deregulation. He also supports cooperation between state and local law enforcement and federal officers.
