Attorney Richard S. Fava Pastilha is running for one of three New York Supreme Court seats in the Ninth Judicial District on Nov. 3.

The state’s amended certification lists him on the Republican and Conservative lines. Five candidates are competing for three seats in the district, which includes Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties.

Voters may choose up to three candidates. A candidate appearing on more than one party line remains one person in this contest.

In his campaign biography, Fava Pastilha describes experience in civil, criminal, family and regulatory matters. His campaign emphasizes a Westchester legal practice and familiarity with clients in the county.

The biography lists a Fordham University degree in political science and Spanish and a law degree from Touro. It also says he speaks Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.

His campaign presents his range of practice areas and language skills as qualifications for judicial work. Those descriptions are attributed to the candidate rather than treated as an independent evaluation.
