The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck girls swim and dive team placed sixth at the Section 1 merged league championship meet Oct. 30-31 in Tarrytown.
RBBRN scored 247 team points across the two-day event, according to MyRye.com. The result does not affect the team's 2-4 regular-season record.
The diving squad carried the team. Lucie Megret finished third with a score of 243.80. Claire Biddle took fifth at 188.95, and Zoe Lopez placed sixth at 184.50. All three qualified for the Section 1 sectional championships. Maddie Kennedy added an eighth-place finish at 152.90.
"We are excited to have three divers and many swimmers continuing to train for the sectional championships," head coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com.
Diving has been RBBRN's strongest discipline all season. In an Oct. 13 loss to Mamaroneck, Megret won the 1-meter dive, Biddle placed third with a season-best score and Lopez finished fourth.
In the pool at the league meet, Charlotte Tait turned in one of the team's top individual swims with a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle. Clare McGlynn placed sixth in the 200 freestyle, and Quinn Boyle was sixth in the 50 free.
The 400 free relay team of McGlynn, Elena McGlynn, Tait and Boyle placed fourth. The 200 medley relay of Elena McGlynn, Kalani Lee, Elena Rojas and Elena Lopez finished sixth. The 200 free relay of Clare McGlynn, Lucy Smith, Tait and Boyle took eighth.
Several swimmers will also compete at sectionals based on performances at the league meet and throughout the regular season, though the team has not specified which individuals qualified.
The Section 1 championships begin Friday, Nov. 6. Swimcloud lists the meet running through Nov. 9 in West Nyack, while MyRye.com reported the event extends through Nov. 10.
