Rye boys soccer completed the first unbeaten regular season in program history Monday, Oct. 19, beating Edgemont 5-0 on Senior Night at Nugent Stadium to finish 15-0-1.
The Garnets, who returned nine starters from a 2025 Class A state runner-up squad, will enter the Section 1 playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Class A. They led Section 1 in goals scored (61) and goal differential (+54) this season, according to MyRye.com.
"We had a remarkable regular season and we are proud of the fact that we did it against such a formidable set of opponents," head coach Jared Small told MyRye.com.
"The reality, however, is that tonight marked the end of one season and tomorrow begins a new season that we hope will last 27 days and include eight matches."
Senior co-captain Kasen Scarperi scored twice Monday, Oct. 19, bringing his season total to 18 goals. Sophomore Connor Dehmer netted his 16th of the year. Senior Alec Dodge Terra and junior Felix Wismer also scored.
Rye jumped ahead 2-0 before halftime on goals from Dehmer and Dodge Terra, then added three more between the 61st and 68th minutes.
It was the second time this season the Garnets routed Edgemont. Rye won 6-0 on Oct. 2 behind a Scarperi hat trick.
Assistant coach Jon Tuttle, in his 11th year with the varsity program, said the senior class has driven the team's standard.
He singled out co-captains Scarperi and Peter Wilmot, along with Dodge Terra and Wismer, as forming one of the strongest midfields in program history, according to the Rye Record.
Junior Cole Furber, one of the nine returning starters, credited the captains' leadership throughout the season.
The Garnets are the defending Section 1 Class A champions and reached the state championship game in 2025 for the first time since 1979.
According to lohud.com's playoff bracket, Rye will host the winner of the Nanuet-Ardsley outbracket in the first round Friday, Oct. 23. The Class A final is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Mahopac High School.
