Rye's girls soccer team completed a second consecutive unbeaten regular season Monday, Oct. 19, beating Byram Hills 5-1 on the road to finish 14-0-2.

The Garnets, who have not lost a game since 2024, enter the Section 1 Class A playoffs as the top seed. Bracket pairings will be released later in the week, according to the Rye Record.

Senior captain Charlotte Keenan scored twice. She opened the scoring by converting a rebound off a Ryann O'Donnell shot, then added a second-half goal on a Shira Rand assist.

Senior Eleanor Pandl and sophomore Harkin Brown also scored before halftime, with defender Ella Fleckton assisting on Brown's goal.

Rye led 3-0 at the break.

Rand capped the scoring with a penalty kick. Sophomore goalkeeper Mae Haesslein made five saves for the Garnets against Byram Hills (9-6-1), whom Rye beat for the second time this season.

The win gave head coach Rich Savage, now in his 34th year leading the program, another league title. The Garnets had already clinched first place before the finale, but the Byram Hills result confirmed what Savage mapped out before the season began: win the league, then chase the section.

"We are certainly aware that we haven't lost a game, but that's not the focus for us," Keenan said Oct. 4 after a 5-0 win over Somers, when the unbeaten streak stood at 34 games. "Our biggest motivation is the fact that we don't like to lose."

Back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons are rare at any level. Last year's Garnets went 21-0-3, won the NYSPHSAA Class A state championship with a 4-0 win over Aquinas and finished ranked No. 6 nationally by United Soccer Coaches, according to the Rye Record's preseason preview.

This year's roster returned five senior captains: Keenan, a Notre Dame soccer commit; Rand, headed to Cornell; Julia Carballo; Blake Sasse, a Colgate lacrosse commit; and Pandl, committed to Franklin & Marshall for soccer. Junior midfielder Hannah Jachman, a Princeton soccer commit, and Brown round out a group loaded with Division I talent.

As the No. 1 seed, Rye is in line to host at least two home playoff games in its quest to repeat as state champions.
