Rye volleyball closed the regular season with a 15-2 record and a league championship after rallying past Henry Hudson in five sets on Monday, Oct. 19.
The Garnets dropped the first set 23-25, won the next two 25-22 and 25-20, then lost the fourth 16-25 before pulling away 15-10 in the decisive fifth, according to the lohud scoreboard. The comeback extended Rye's winning streak to 13 consecutive matches.
The Garnets trailed early.
Four players reached at least nine kills. Giorgia Brizio and Audre Campbell each posted 13 to lead the attack. Charlie Wing added 10 kills, three aces and two blocks, while Katie Hillis contributed nine kills, seven aces and 10 digs. Setter Amelie Modesto ran the offense with 34 assists, nine digs and two aces. Margo Ehrenberg led the back row with 14 digs and five assists.
The 15-2 finish guarantees Rye a top-two seed in the Section 1 tournament, MyRye.com reported. The Garnets have already clinched the league title in a conference that includes Pelham, Byram Hills and Eastchester. As a top-two seed, Rye will likely open postseason play in round two.
Rye has not lost since falling to Dobbs Ferry in September, a stretch that included a three-set sweep of Pelham on Oct. 13 that pushed the streak to 11.
The expectations for Rye volleyball are at an all-time high entering the 2026-27 season.
Head coach Geri Jones, now in her 12th season, set the tone before the first match. "We approached the season as, 'We're going to do this one at a time,'" Jones said in a Sept. 2 season preview in the Rye Record, describing the defending Section 1 champions' mindset entering the year.
The Garnets won their first Section 1 Class A championship last season, finished 19-5 and reached the state tournament's regional final. This year's squad returned most of that roster, with seniors Modesto, Ehrenberg and Lexi Kessner serving as captains.
Rye will aim for its 14th straight victory when the Section 1 tournament bracket is set and postseason play begins.
