Still cleaning up from the July 4 blackout? County lawmakers are about to talk flood money.

Less than two weeks after storms knocked out power to nearly 174,000 Westchester customers, county legislators meet Monday to discuss funding for flood mitigation — starting with a project in Ardsley.

The Infrastructure & Housing Committee meets at 10 a.m. Monday at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains to discuss a bond act for flood work on Powderhorn Road in Ardsley, along with an update to the county's stormwater plan covering Rye, Harrison and Rye Brook.

The July 3-4 storms left 173,700 Con Edison customers without power across Westchester, with Rye, Yonkers, Mount Vernon and New Rochelle hit hardest. Most power was back by July 6 — but the storm was a fresh reminder of why flood infrastructure keeps landing on the county's agenda.

The county has already put more than $116 million toward stormwater projects countywide, typically covering half the cost while municipalities fund the rest. A similar bond act for a Briarcliff Manor project came in at $1.2 million; Ardsley's dollar figure hasn't been made public yet.

Rye and Rye Brook are already seeing state money flow in separately — $21 million announced last year for bridge replacements and stream restoration work on the Blind Brook watershed.

Monday's meeting is a discussion only — any funding the committee advances still needs a vote from the full Board of Legislators, with no date set yet. Residents can attend in person or watch via WebEx livestream.
