If you've spent a summer day at The Brook at Tibbetts in Yonkers, you know the water park is getting up there in age. Now a county committee is set to consider funding to fix it up.
The Parks & Environment Committee meets Monday to weigh a bond act for pool rehabilitation at Tibbetts Brook Park, one of just four county-operated pools open to Westchester residents. Acting Parks Commissioner Peter Tartaglia and Director of Park Planning Rob Lopane will present the proposal at 10 a.m. at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.
The committee agenda lists only the bond act's title, with no dollar figure or repair details public as of Thursday. For a sense of scale, though: a recent comparable bond act for the Bronx River Parkway authorized $9.7 million.
None of the three county legislators representing Rye, Harrison and Rye Brook — Anant Nambiar, Nancy E. Barr and Jen Puja — sit on Parks & Environment. But if the committee advances the bond act, it heads to the full 17-member Board of Legislators, where all three would weigh in.
The county replaced the original Tibbetts Brook pool in 2009 with a $9.25 million water park featuring a spray playground, lap lanes and a lazy river — cheaper, officials decided at the time, than patching up the old one. That "new" facility is now 16 years old and open through Sept. 7 this summer, with proof of county residency required for entry.

The meeting starts at 10 a.m. Monday in the 8th-floor committee room at 148 Martine Ave., White Plains, or via WebEx livestream on the county legislature's website. Residents can also contact their county legislator's office directly to share comments before any final vote.
