Rye routed No. 1-ranked Byram Hills 7-2 in Section 1 Class A girls soccer Monday, Oct. 5, at Nugent Stadium, as first reported by the Rye Record.

Sophomore Harkin Brown recorded a hat trick. Senior Charlotte Keenan, a Notre Dame commit and 2025 All-American, added two goals. Fiona Marino and Rose Denvir each scored once.

Hannah Jachman, Ryann O'Donnell, Jill DeSanto and Cameron Dawson picked up assists.

The Garnets (9-0-2) built a 7-0 lead with just under 28 minutes remaining, then pulled their starters. Byram Hills (9-2) scored its two goals against Rye's reserves.

Rye did it shorthanded. Three players missed the game with an illness circulating through Rye High School. The seven-goal outburst was still the Garnets' largest offensive showing of the 2026 season.

The matchup pitted the state's top two Class A teams against each other.

Byram Hills entered ranked No. 1 in New York Class A, according to the Rye Record's preview coverage. Rye was ranked No. 2. The Bobcats had already lost to Pelham earlier in the season, but the game still carried top-of-the-table stakes.

Entering the Byram Hills game, Rye had not allowed a goal since Sept. 13, outscoring its previous six opponents by a combined 22-0. The Garnets' unbeaten streak stretched back to 2024 and stood at 34 games before Monday's win.

Rye is the defending Class A state champion after finishing 21-0-3 in 2025 under head coach Rich Savage, now in his 34th season. Brown was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 state final as a freshman after scoring in the Garnets' 4-0 win over Aquinas Institute.

Senior captains Elanor Pandl and Blake Sasse anchor the back line and goal, respectively. Center midfielder Julia Carballo runs the midfield.

Rye hosts Harrison at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Nugent Stadium. The Huskies enter at 6-3-1. Rye beat Harrison 3-0 earlier this season.
