Three artists will fill the walls and pedestals of Heather Gaudio Fine Art starting Aug. 22, when the Greenwich gallery opens its Late Summer Show with new work by Sophie Kitching, Jae Ko and Matthew Shlian.

The exhibition runs through Oct. 3 at the gallery's space at 382 Greenwich Ave. in Greenwich, Connecticut, a short drive from Rye, Harrison and Rye Brook. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and by appointment.

Kitching, a French-British painter born on the Isle of Wight and now based in New York City, is exhibiting at the gallery for the first time. She will show paintings from her "Invisible Green" series, named for the color English parks use to blend architectural structures into surrounding nature. The gallery described her process in an Aug. 12 Instagram post: Kitching moves from small gouache studies on paper to wall-sized oils, layering color until botanical landscapes shimmer. She earned her master's degree from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and published a monograph, "Nuits Américaines," with Lienart in 2017.

Korean-born sculptor Jae Ko, a gallery roster artist, will present a new series of adding machine paper spools spliced into cross sections and misted with Sumi ink. The sprayed layers cause the paper to fan out, taking on the appearance of microorganisms or cross sections of wood.

Ko's work is held in public collections including the Phillips Collection and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Paper engineer Matthew Shlian rounds out the trio. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, and now based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Shlian begins by sketching patterns in a notebook, maps them digitally on an industrial plotter, then constructs shapes by hand.

"Beginning with an initial fold, a single action causes a transfer of energy to subsequent folds, which ultimately manifest in drawings and three dimensional forms," Shlian said in a published artist statement cited by the Tamarind Institute.

His sculptures are held at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Drawing Center, and he has received commissions from Apple, Facebook, Supreme and Sesame Street. Shlian previously showed at Heather Gaudio Fine Art in a 2021 solo exhibition titled "Light Years" and a 2024 group summer show.

The women-owned gallery, led by founder Heather Gaudio and managing director Christine Romaniello, has curated more than 60 exhibitions since opening its Greenwich Avenue location in 2015. It mounts roughly six shows per year, according to its Cultural Alliance listing.

Admission is free. No opening reception has been publicly announced; residents can contact the gallery for details.
