A Halloween festival with hayrides, a haunted house and live music comes to Rye's Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary on Oct. 17 and 18.
The Spooktacular Oktoberfest runs from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day, rain or shine. Admission is $25 per person. Children ages three and under get in free.
The two-day lineup includes pumpkin painting, trick-or-treating, Halloween crafts, a bounce house and s'mores, according to Patch.
Food and beverage vendors will be on-site, along with live animals from The Nature Company. Live music comes from The Saddle Ridge Ramblers and singer-songwriter Mani Cregan.
Organizers are encouraging guests to show up in costume.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said the event brings families together by giving kids a full slate of activities while parents enjoy the fall season outdoors.
"We're excited to welcome families to Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary for a celebration that combines the fun of Halloween with the beauty of Westchester's great outdoors," Jenkins said.
The 179-acre sanctuary sits on the Long Island Sound shoreline at 1 Playland Parkway, just past the amusement park, and features three miles of trails through forest and field, a half-mile beach and 85-acre Manursing Lake. The National Audubon Society of New York has recognized it as an Important Bird Area.
Parking is in Playland's lot. Tickets are on sale now, according to the Yonkers Times. No online purchase link was included in the announcements.
