Harrison police logged 10 incidents between Sunday, Aug. 9, and Thursday, Aug. 13, including a DWI arrest tied to a hit-and-run on Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard and two additional DWI stops in the early morning hours of Monday, Aug. 10.
The busiest stretch came on Thursday, Aug. 13, when officers made four warrant arrests across town.
DWI and hit-and-run: Aug. 9
Officer Soltis responded to 403 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. N at approximately 7:06 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, after a caller reported a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident, according to the Harrison Police Department blotter. The investigation led to a DWI arrest.
Two more DWI arrests: Aug. 10
Two additional DWI arrests followed in the early hours of Monday, Aug. 10. At about 1:43 a.m., Officer Delgado stopped a 2010 gray Kia Forte operating without headlights near Hamilton Street and North Second Street. Less than an hour later, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Officer Titterington pulled over a brown Land Rover after the driver disregarded a traffic control device. Both stops resulted in DWI charges.
Obstruction arrest: Aug. 11
On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Officer Colon was already on scene at a medical emergency when a vehicle parked directly behind an ambulance with its hazard lights on, blocking access. The driver was arrested for obstruction at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Warrant arrests: Aug. 10–13
Six warrant arrests rounded out the blotter period:
- Aug. 10: Officer Titterington stopped a black Honda Civic near Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. S and Bergen Street at about 6:41 p.m. A check revealed an outstanding warrant.
- Aug. 12: Officers Gomez and Cecere ran a license plate inquiry on a 2010 white Mercedes-Benz GL at about 10:43 p.m., uncovering an active warrant.
- Aug. 13 (9:19 a.m.): West Orange Police Department transported a suspect to Harrison headquarters on a Harrison warrant.
- Aug. 13 (9:22 a.m.): Officer Christian Vargas ran a plate on a white Volkswagen near Harrison Avenue and Passaic Avenue, leading to a warrant arrest.
- Aug. 13 (8:28 p.m.): Officer Connor McClelland spotted a white 2010 Chrysler Sebring near Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue. The stop produced a warrant arrest.
- Aug. 13 (8:52 p.m.): Officer Anthony Cecere ran a plate on a black 2024 Nissan Sentra near 2 Passaic Avenue, resulting in a warrant arrest.
Several of the warrant arrests originated from random license plate inquiries during routine patrol, a tactic that appeared repeatedly across the week's entries.
Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard figured in at least four of the 10 incidents, spanning both the north and south sections of the corridor.
