Obscene graffiti scrawled on a public basketball court in Harrison will force the village to completely resurface the court.

The Harrison Police Department is pursuing leads from security camera footage, Seehafer News reported on Monday, Aug. 31. Additional officers have been assigned to patrol near the court while the investigation continues.

No arrests have been made.

Village officials did not identify the court by name or say when the vandalism occurred. The cost of resurfacing has not been disclosed.

The village urged parents and guardians to talk with their children about respecting public property.

Officials warned about the serious consequences of using electronic devices, scooters, bikes or other items to damage public facilities. Harrison leaders also asked residents to help protect parks and recreational spaces that serve the entire community.
