Playland Amusement Park in Rye is running 34 of its 40 active rides heading into this weekend, the best operational rate of the 2026 season.

The Log Flume, closed as recently as July 23, has reopened, bringing the park from 33 rides to 34, according to MyRye.com's weekly Ride Watch published Thursday, July 30. That puts Playland at 85% capacity, a significant jump from the 70-75% figure county Parks Commissioner Kathy O'Connor reported to legislators when the Board of Legislators held its first Playland oversight meeting in early July.

Six rides remain closed: the Himalaya and Kiddy Boats in Kiddyland, plus the Derby Racer, Gondola Wheel, Playland Yo-Yo, and Sky Flyer in the adult rides section.

The Himalaya is confirmed shut for the entire 2026 season. No reason for that closure has been made public.

Closures have dropped steadily through the summer: nine rides were down in early July, eight as of July 16, seven as of July 23, and now six.

What families need to know this weekend

Playland is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., through August 2, according to the Westchester County Parks Department. Friday Night Fireworks launch at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 31, part of a weekly series running through Friday, September 4.

Spectators enter free.

Ride bands for Westchester residents cost $27 for the Big Park and $20 for Kiddyland (children under 48 inches). Non-residents pay $32 and $25, respectively. Children 2 and under ride free with a paying guardian. Season passes are $85 for residents, sold online only. Parking is $15 per car on weekdays and weekends, $20 on holidays.

Shrinking ride inventory

Beyond the six temporary closures, 10 rides have been permanently removed since 2019, including the Go-Karts, Thunder Bolt, and Super Flight. The county parks department told MyRye.com on June 3 that the Super Flight was removed to make way for a future new ride.
