Families who missed the Fourth of July fireworks at Playland Park get a second shot Friday, July 10, at 9 p.m. The rescheduled show will be larger than the park's typical weekly display, according to Westchester County Parks.
The county is billing the event as a special commemorative celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The original July 4 show was canceled due to rain, according to a county announcement published Wednesday, July 8.
"The date may have changed, but the excitement hasn't," said Peter Tartaglia, Westchester County Parks acting commissioner, adding that the display will honor America's 250th anniversary.
County Executive Ken Jenkins called the rescheduled event "a tradition not to be missed, especially for our nation's 250th celebration."
If rain returns Friday, the display moves to Saturday, July 11.
