Rye families looking for a full week of summer at Playland Park won't have to wait for the weekend. The pool, beach and amusement park are all running through the week of Monday, July 20, through Sunday, July 26, according to Westchester County Parks' weekly events schedule released Wednesday, July 16.
Pool and beach: open daily
Playland Pool and Playland Beach are open every day from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with last entry at 6 p.m. Both stay open through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Admission and parking fees apply, though specific pool and beach fee amounts are not listed in the county release.
One detail worth noting for visitors from outside the area: Playland Pool is the only Westchester County pool that does not require proof of county residency for admission. Playland Beach is also open to all visitors regardless of residency, according to a June 30 announcement from County Executive Ken Jenkins.
Amusement park: Wednesday through Sunday
Playland Amusement Park opens Wednesday, July 22, and runs through Sunday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Park entry is free. Ride wristbands cost $20 for Kiddyland (Westchester residents) or $25 for non-residents, and $27 for the Big Park wristband (residents) or $32 for non-residents. Parking is $15 per car.
The park features up to 40 rides, including the Dragon Coaster and the Grand Carousel. Ride availability varies by day. Season passes are available online at $85 for residents and $100 for non-residents; passes do not cover parking, pool or beach admission.
Friday night fireworks
The weekly fireworks show returns Friday, July 24, at 9 p.m. The display launches from the Playland pier and can be viewed from inside the park, along the Playland Beach boardwalk, or from Rye Town Park. Fireworks continue every Friday through September 4.
"The date may have changed, but the excitement hasn't," Westchester County Parks Acting Commissioner Peter Tartaglia said on July 10, when the rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks kicked off this summer's Friday night series.
