Playland Park's new Scorpios ride joins the regular lineup when the park opens for the week on Wednesday, Aug. 19, with discounted $15 wristbands for Westchester County residents through the rest of the season.

The 42-seat pendulum-style pirate ship swing, built by German manufacturer Metallbau Emmeln, opened Thursday, Aug. 13 after a ribbon-cutting by County Executive Ken Jenkins. Riders must be at least 50 inches tall to ride alone; those between 43 and 49 inches need a companion who is at least 14.

Scorpios joins Playland classics including the Dragon Coaster, Grand Carousel and Sawmill River.

Hours and pricing

Rides are open Wednesday through Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wristbands are $15 for county residents and $25 for non-residents. That $15 price is down from the $27 resident wristband earlier this season. Spectators enter free. Parking is $15 per car.
