Twenty-six artists will turn Purchase Street storefronts into an open-air gallery when the Rye Arts Center launches its annual "Art for Purchase" exhibition on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The show runs through Oct. 29, making it the longest edition yet, according to an ArtsWestchester press release. An opening community reception is set for Sept. 17 at Wine at 5, located at 1 Elm Place, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., according to the Rye Arts Center's website.

The exhibition pairs local and regional artists with downtown Rye retailers, displaying work in storefront windows along Purchase Street. Visitors can browse and buy pieces directly.

All artwork is for sale.

An art-themed scavenger hunt will run alongside the show, and the opening reception will include wine and small bites. Proceeds support the Rye Arts Center's arts education programs.

Last year's edition matched 27 artists with 27 retailers. Tim Cacace, owner of Rafele Rye and Gordito Kitchen and co-president of the Rye Chamber of Commerce, called the 2025 show "a wonderful occasion that brought the community together" in an April press release promoting this year's return.

"Having the opportunity to showcase local artists is always a privilege … art is something everyone can appreciate," Cacace said at the time.

The Rye Arts Center, a nonprofit at 51 Milton Rd. founded in 1960, serves more than 35,000 residents annually with programs funded in part by Art for Purchase proceeds. The exhibition is also timed to overlap with downtown Rye's annual October window painting.
