Rye's Board of Education voted 7-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to approve a consultant agreement with BluePath Service Dogs.

The Carmel, N.Y.-based nonprofit provides autism service dogs to children ages 5 to 11.

The agreement, listed under the board's Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education section, was part of a consent agenda that also included a software deal with ManageBac and a banking resolution with Flushing Bank.

Board President Jane Anderson highlighted the BluePath agreement when summarizing the approvals at the meeting.

BluePath has placed 65 autism service dogs with children and families since 2016. The board minutes do not describe the dollar value or specific scope of the district's agreement with the organization.

The board also approved a 2026-27 agreement with ManageBac, a curriculum platform used by schools offering the International Baccalaureate programme.

Rye High School is an IB World School, with Anthony Frabizzio serving as IB Diploma Programme coordinator.

A banking resolution with Flushing Bank, a division of OceanFirst Bank N.A., and consultant agreements with Scientific Teaching Services and the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District rounded out the consent agenda. Board member Shaun Kloepfer made the motion, seconded by Emily Borell.

Seven policies advanced to a first review with no board comment. Vice President Jennifer Boyle led the discussion.

The policies cover virtual, blended and remote learning; student attendance; students in temporary housing; eligibility for middle and high school extracurricular activities; immunizations; lice management; and student transportation.

All seven move to a second review at the Sept. 22 board meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Patricia Murray told the board that the Sept. 8 session doubled as the first day of school. "It has been a wonderful start to the school year, and I want to thank our faculty, staff, administrators, students, and families for helping us begin the year on such a positive note," Murray said.

Before the public session, board members toured Milton and Midland elementary school buildings. No residents spoke during the public comment period.

The next board meeting is Sept. 22. The agenda will focus on 2026-27 board goals and the district's strategic plan, along with the second policy review.
