Kasen Scarperi scored three goals Friday, Oct. 2, as Rye boys soccer blanked Edgemont 6-0 to improve to 10-0 on the season.
The senior co-captain and Franklin & Marshall commit completed the hat trick in a game where four different Garnets found the net, according to the Rye Record. Sophomore Connor Dehmer, senior Gabe Chared-Sandstrom and Felix Wismer also scored. Six regular-season games remain.
The Oct. 2 rout was the third straight road win for the Garnets, who are now ranked No. 1 in Section 1 Class A and No. 2 in all of New York Class A.
Scarperi has been the engine of Rye's attack all fall. He scored four goals in a 6-4 win over previously unbeaten Walter Panas on Sept. 22, a game that doubled as an early-season statement.
"We just kept fighting all night tonight … We had some uncharacteristic mistakes in the early going, but our defense played great in the second half," Scarperi said after the Sept. 22 win over Panas.
That fight has defined head coach Jared Small's 19th season leading the program. Rye returned nine starters from a 2025 squad that reached the Class A state championship game before falling 2-0 to East Aurora. Small was named 2025 New York State Large School Coach of the Year, and his team has now reached the Section 1 title game eight years running.
After the Garnets' 5-0 rout of rival Harrison on Sept. 8, Small told MyRye.com his players "set the standard for what we want our identity to be."
Ten games later, that identity looks like the best team in the section.
The Garnets' lone close call came Sept. 24 at home against Byram Hills. Playing without three injured starters, Rye squeezed out a 1-0 win on a Scarperi goal off a cross from Wismer.
That rematch looms Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m. in Armonk. It will close a four-game road stretch and test whether the Garnets can stay perfect against the team that gave them their tightest game of the year.
