Parent groups across the Rye City School District are sending nearly $54,000 into classrooms and onto playing fields this fall after the Board of Education unanimously approved four community gifts at its Tuesday, Aug. 11 meeting.

The largest donation, $20,000 from the Osborn School PTO, will fund teacher grants for the 2026-27 school year. The Milton School PTO contributed $18,623 for field trips, classroom materials and flexible furniture. The Rye Football Boosters Association gave $9,350 for new jerseys, and the Retik Mello Foundation gave $6,000 to support its annual scholarship.

Milton's PTO has been especially active this year. The organization gave $41,329 for flexible classroom furniture in June and $20,000 for cultural arts programs in July, bringing its three-month total to roughly $80,000, according to board minutes.

Superintendent Dr. Patricia Murray told the board that summer construction projects are running behind schedule but will finish before students return. "Construction is slightly delayed but will be on time for the opening of schools," Murray said during her superintendent's report. The minutes do not specify which buildings are affected.

The board also approved a 2026-27 IT services agreement with Edu Tek Ltd., a White Plains-based provider that has served Westchester school districts since the late 1990s. Harrison's school district extended its own Edu Tek contract at its June 17 meeting.

On the personnel side, the board approved two probationary teacher appointments and two appointment amendments, along with other staffing actions. No names were released publicly.

All five board members were present: President Jane Anderson, Vice President Jennifer Boyle, Emily Borell, Shaun Kloepfer and Matthew Schibanoff. The entire consent agenda passed 5-0. No members of the public spoke, and the public session lasted three minutes after the board emerged from a nearly hour-long executive session.

The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27.
