Rye, Harrison and Rye Brook families can nominate high school juniors and seniors for Westchester County's annual Youth Service Awards through Friday, Oct. 9.

The Westchester County Youth Bureau opened nominations on Thursday, Sept. 17, for the 2026 awards, which recognize 11th and 12th grade students living in Westchester County for outstanding leadership and community service.

Completed nomination forms are due by 5 p.m. on the Oct. 9 deadline.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.

County Executive Ken Jenkins called the program "a wonderful opportunity to honor young leaders in our community who are dedicated to serving others, in spite of some having overcome significant personal obstacles."

Ernest McFadden, executive director of the Youth Bureau, said the annual program is a collaboration between the bureau and the Westchester County Youth Board. McFadden said the process culminates in a ceremony celebrating students who serve with "humility, kindness and selflessness."

Alexandria Connally, chairperson of the Youth Board, said the awards highlight students who demonstrate leadership and a willingness to step forward in their communities.
