Two Westchester events are giving families a way to celebrate the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final on Sunday, July 19: a free watch party with giant outdoor screens at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla, and a World Cup-themed afternoon of music and making at the Westchester Children's Museum at Playland Park in Rye.
Watch party at Kensico Dam Plaza
New York State and Westchester County are hosting a free World Cup Final Watch Experience at Kensico Dam Plaza, with doors opening at noon Sunday, July 19. The match between Spain and Argentina kicks off at 3 p.m. on FOX from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The event includes giant outdoor screens, interactive soccer experiences, live entertainment, food and beverage vendors, and giveaways. Registration is required; tickets are available at NewYorkStateUnited.com.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said in a June 24 news release that officials are "proud to help bring this global moment directly to residents here in Westchester County."
Metro-North Railroad advised attendees on Friday, July 17, to take the Harlem Line to Valhalla Station, which the railroad called "just steps from the event." Shuttle service is also available from North White Plains.
Westchester County Parks noted Sunday, July 19, that Kensico Dam Plaza is closed to the general public for the watch event. The Westchester County Center parking lots and North White Plains train station lot are also closed for the day.
Kids' celebration at Playland
The Westchester Children's Museum is hosting a World Cup-themed celebration Sunday, July 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at its home in the historic North Bathhouse on the Playland boardwalk.
The afternoon features hands-on making activities, live music, and community programming inspired by the tournament, according to the museum's event listing. The museum, led by Executive Director Jeremy Scalchunes, has drawn nearly 150,000 visitors annually and is marking its 10th year at Playland in 2026.
