Rye-area riders who took the bus to Playland over the summer will lose that option on Sept. 7.

Westchester County's Bee-Line bus system will end seasonal service on Routes 75 and 91, the shuttle lines to Playland Park, when fall schedule changes take effect Monday, Sept. 7. County Executive Ken Jenkins announced the changes on Aug. 31, saying the adjustments are meant to better match schedules to rider demand while improving reliability and efficiency across the system.

The Playland route cuts are part of a broader fall adjustment touching more than a dozen Bee-Line lines across Westchester.

The county did not release ridership figures for Routes 75 and 91 or say whether the seasonal lines will return next summer.

Sept. 7 is Labor Day. Bee-Line buses will run on a Sunday schedule that day, so riders on all routes should plan accordingly.

Other route changes

Weekday schedules will shift on Routes 1, 1X, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 14, 15, 45, 52, 60, 62 and 66.

Route 1X will also extend service to Bradhurst Avenue, giving riders along that corridor a new connection.

Routes 16 and 18/31 will be adjusted to align more closely with published timetables, with additional trip changes on those lines.

Route 20 will see weekday and Sunday schedule changes.

Route 43 will add a new northbound 6:35 a.m. trip between White Plains Road and East 241st Street in the Bronx and Westchester Medical Center.

That early-morning addition could benefit health care workers commuting to the medical center.

Playland season ending

The shuttle endings come as Playland wraps up its summer season.

As we reported Aug. 28, the park's pool closes Sept. 7, the same day the bus routes end service.

Jenkins, in a statement, called the Bee-Line system essential for connecting residents to jobs, schools and health care throughout Westchester.

He encouraged riders to check updated schedules before traveling.

The county's announcement did not include a public comment period or a future meeting date related to the changes.

Westchester County Government also posted the schedule update on its official X account on Aug. 31.

Riders can find new timetables at westchestercountyny.gov/beelinebus or call the Bee-Line Customer Service Center at (914) 813-7777.
